See a doctor by video — オンライン診療
Some clinics on Curae offer online consultations (オンライン診療): a secure video visit from home, in a language you're comfortable with. Book a time, and the clinic sends you a link.
How it works
- 1
Book a time
Pick an online appointment on the clinic's page. Booking works exactly like an in-person visit — you just choose “Online”.
- 2
Get your link
The clinic sends a secure video link before your appointment. There's usually no app to install — the clinic tells you if there is.
- 3
Have your documents ready
Keep your photo ID and insurance card (or a payment card for self-pay) nearby. Join from a quiet, well-lit place with a stable connection.
- 4
Talk to the doctor
Meet by video, discuss your symptoms, and get advice, a prescription, or a referral. Prescriptions are sent to you or a pharmacy per the clinic's process.
Good for
- Follow-ups and repeat prescriptions
- Minor illnesses and general questions
- Mental health and counseling sessions
- Getting advice before deciding to visit in person
Insurance & payment
Online consultations may be covered by Japanese health insurance (保険診療) or charged as self-pay (自費), depending on the clinic and treatment. Each clinic's page shows what it accepts.
When an in-person visit is needed
Online care can't replace a physical exam, tests, imaging, or emergencies. If your condition needs hands-on care, the doctor will ask you to come in — and Curae makes it easy to book that too.
In an emergency, call 119 (ambulance) or go to the nearest emergency room — don't wait for an online appointment.
